Members Enrol on Distance Learning Courses
February 18th, 2016
Prudential Unite members in Reading took advantage of the partnership agreement Prudential Section signed with the Prisons Officers Association (POA) to provide Distance Learning VRQ Qualifications to members by enrolling on a series of courses.
The POA’s Learning administrator, Adam Blake, came to Reading office to enrol a number of members in courses ranging from Business Administration to Understanding Autism.
A total of 15 members have signed up to these Distance Learning courses and a further half a dozen members have signed up to On-Line language courses including French and Spanish.
Prudential Section Senior Rep, Steve O’Donnell, said it was great to see so members taking the opportunity to learn new skills which will benefit them at work and outside the workplace.
“The partnership agreement we signed with the POA highlights that Unite isn’t just about supporting members with disputes in the workplace but can provide our members opportunities to develop themselves.”
Unfortunately, the Tory government as part of their campaign of attacks on Trade Unions, are going to stop the funding of these courses so they are only available for a limited period of time.
A number of members in London have also enrolled on the courses.
