Office Update – June 2020
Monday, June 8th, 2020
We are pleased with the cautious and risk assessed approach the Company is taking to reoccupying the offices and welcome the news that the earliest return to an office environment could be September for the majority of individuals.
We are consulting with the Company regularly and will only agree a return to any office if the measures to protect you are in place and that risks have been mitigated as much as possible, including reviewing how individuals will be getting to and from the office We acknowledge and appreciate the incredible amount of work that Workplace Solutions are doing to ensure that returning to office based working will be as safe as possible going forward and we will continue to feed into the process with support from Unite and the TUC.
The Company has also started to engage with us around what the future of working at M&G PLC will look like. This includes how many days you are in the office and what equipment you need to be both productive and comfortable, wherever you are working. Working from home doesn’t suit everyone so it is important that each individuals personal circumstances are taken into account, that any concerns are listened to and that they are addressed and satisfactorily resolved.
If you need any support at this time and/or would like to feed into our discussions on the future of working at M&G PLC, please contact us. We always feedback to consultations generically and anonymously unless we have the individuals permission to highlight their personal situation.
As always we’re here to support you and we continue to do this even in these difficult circumstances. If you have any concerns, issues or feedback then please get in touch:

Member Update – May 2020
Monday, May 18th, 2020
We are very pleased with the approach the Company is taking during this incredibly challenging time to ensure everyone can work safely at home. Providing the budget and mechanism to order equipment to ensure a better working arrangement in your home is a very positive step in the right direction.
Unite cautiously welcomes the proposed principles of future of working within M&G PLC. However, whilst we recognise the need to do things differently, this must not be to the detriment of individuals and we welcome the principle that future working practices will be driven by both safety and the individual circumstances.
We will be consulting with the Company on any proposed plans to reoccupy offices in the mid to long term and we will also take guidance from both Unite and the TUC to ensure that the proposals will provide a safe working environment for all employees and support staff.
As always we’re here to support you and we continue to do this even in these difficult circumstances, if you have any concerns, issues or feedback then please get in touch: Unite@prudential.co.uk.
Feel free to pass this on to your colleagues who may not be members. More information on the benefits of being a Unite member can be found at www.unitetheunion.org.

You may have seen John Foley’s video presentation of the 2019 year end results and the plan to open a voluntary redundancy window in 2020.
We will be meeting with the Company in the coming weeks to gain an understanding around the cost challenges and the rationale for this exercise.

Collective Recognition in Craigforth
Thursday, October 24th, 2019
Following consultation with the Company , we now have collective recognition for all Grade 1-3 employees in Craigforth (excluding those working in PFP or Intermediated Distribution).
We are pleased that this is a positive step from the Company towards ensuring all employees in grades 1-3 are represented by the collective recognition agreement irrespective of location. This shows a commitment from the Company to recognise the value and external perspective that only an independent union can bring to any consultation or negotiation.
As always, we are committed to getting the best outcome we can for all members and in all locations. For areas where we currently don’t have collective recognition such as PFP, Intermediaries, Edinburgh etc. you can still join Unite and you will be able to access all of the benefits that being a member brings.
Personally, I would like to thank two of the previous Senior Representatives, Steve O’Donnell and Chris Gray as without their hard work and persistence over the years this may not have been achieved.
Claire Williams
Senior Unite Representative
