Colleague Support Advisor Role
As the only officially recognised union for M&G plc staff, we appreciate the Company’s aspiration to support colleagues better in M&G plc.
In addition to the support the Colleague Support Advisor may offer, Unite Representatives are truly impartial and independent of the Company and have a vast array of industry/legal/political knowledge and expertise that can be called upon should a member need support at any stage. All Representatives are trained and fully supported by Unite.
Anyone can be a member of Unite regardless of grade or location and as a member of Unite you are entitled to raise any concerns and issues with us in a confidential manner.
Unite’s representatives work with the business to help make it a great place to work. On behalf of M&G ‘s staff we negotiate annual pay rises and other benefits along with discussing working conditions etc.
Our strong membership and constructive dialogue with M&G plc management means we make a positive input to resolving issues and creating a positive working environment across the Company.
In addition, there are many other positive reasons to join Unite, including the individual benefits we offer. These include:
- Professional advice and guidance on work related matters through our network of trained workplace reps, with back up from specialist employment law solicitors if needed
- FREE will writing service to members and their spouses
- A huge range of member benefits and discounts on a wide range of goods and services
- Access to a wide range of courses through Learn with Unite
- FREE (non-work related)legal advice
- And much more….

Return to Offices
We welcome the continued cautious approach from M&G plc regarding the pandemic and returning to the office. We will be sending out the survey we asked you to complete last year again in July to see if anything has changed and what you need/want with the return to a more normal working environment.

Roddy
Friday, April 30th, 2021
We are deeply shocked and saddened at the news that Roddy Thomson has passed away.
We echo John Foley’s comments and whilst inevitably, we could not always agree on things, we felt that Roddy genuinely cared about colleagues and most importantly, listened to us.
Roddy was incredibly approachable and would always take time out to have a chat.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this extremely difficult time and we appreciate the opportunity being offered by the Company to unite in showing our respect for Roddy this afternoon.
If any of you feel that you need any support, please either get in touch with us, or the Employee Assistance Programme on a confidential basis.
We are here to help.

Member Update – May 2020
Monday, May 18th, 2020
We are very pleased with the approach the Company is taking during this incredibly challenging time to ensure everyone can work safely at home. Providing the budget and mechanism to order equipment to ensure a better working arrangement in your home is a very positive step in the right direction.
Unite cautiously welcomes the proposed principles of future of working within M&G PLC. However, whilst we recognise the need to do things differently, this must not be to the detriment of individuals and we welcome the principle that future working practices will be driven by both safety and the individual circumstances.
We will be consulting with the Company on any proposed plans to reoccupy offices in the mid to long term and we will also take guidance from both Unite and the TUC to ensure that the proposals will provide a safe working environment for all employees and support staff.
As always we’re here to support you and we continue to do this even in these difficult circumstances, if you have any concerns, issues or feedback then please get in touch: Unite@prudential.co.uk.
Feel free to pass this on to your colleagues who may not be members. More information on the benefits of being a Unite member can be found at www.unitetheunion.org.
