Claire Williams

CW profileFull time Senior Rep

Background:

I joined Prudential in 1994 and was part of the OB Life team until I moved to Annuities Bereavements in late 2005.

Why am I part of Unite:

I have always been a member of a union throughout my working life. I believe that a collective and organised voice is far better than a crowd of individuals. I joined Unite because I believe in first & foremost that workers should be treated fairly, with respect and dignity.

Unite in Prudential has a very strong record of reinforcing all three of those and this is because all the representatives have worked in the business and have the knowledge to challenge where necessary but also to work with the Company to ensure Prudential continues to be a great place to work.

Why did I become a Unite representative:

I became a Unite rep primarily because of the 1000-day plan. The real threat was to Prudential pulling out of Reading. Unite, Prudential Section fought these plans and I am proud to have played a very small part in the campaign to keep Prudential in Reading.

I became a Unite rep and subsequently, Equalities Officer because I believe first & foremost that workers should be treated fairly, with respect and dignity. Having been elected as the Senior Rep in March 2018, I will continue where Steve O’Donnell left off to ensure that members are supported for what is going to be a period of unprecedented change for M&G Prudential.

What can I do for you

I am there to help you with any concerns that you may have, guidance you may need or ideas to make Prudential an even better place to work which I cannot do without your input. The Unite team meet regularly with local management teams and HR to discuss topics and strive to maintain the good relationship we currently have.
